The detector is based on a Teflon coated, weather resistant black conical absorber. In contrast to other sensor designs, NR LITE requires no fragile plastic domes. This results in a virtually maintenance free design.

MA-140 Silicon Cell Pyranometer for Global Solar & Diffuse Radiation

The MA140 is a low-cost, rugged, weatherproof pyranometer intended for use under the most severe field conditions. The MA140 Pyranometer Sensor is ideal for solar energy measurements, sun plus sky radiation. It is designed for measurements in solar, agricultural, meteorological, and hydrological studies. The sensor has a silicon photovoltaic detector mounted in a fully cosine-corrected miniature head. The sensor needs to be mounted on a flat surface. We offer a mounting and leveling plate to facilitate installation. The pyranometer compares favorably with first class thermopile types, but it is priced at a fraction of the cost.

SD-4 Sunshine Duration for Total Solar Radiation

The SD4 Sunshine Duration sensor is a contrast detector for the measurement of direct sunlight duration. It has four identical omni-directional silicon diode sensors under a hemispherical shading canopy. An embedded microcontroller executes a sophisticated contrast evaluation algorithm to accurately discriminate direct sunshine from diffuse sunlight, even in difficult bright-cloud conditions. The algorithm evaluates magnitude, difference, and rate of change to determine sun status.
