The sensor can be used to replace existing transmissometers, giving advantages in stability, accuracy, and maintainability at a much lower cost. The VIS6000 is ideal for automated meteorological systems at airports, lighthouses, along roadways, and on ships, as well as for general observations. The sensor can be used in the detection of hazards to transportation caused by fog, snow, smoke, blowing sand, etc.
